IT ALL STARTED WHEN I STUMBLED UPON MY FAMILY’S FILM CAMERAS.
They were dusted over with rolls of film stuck inside. Some were tools in my grandfather’s lab, used to measure the growth of the plants he studied. Others were the sidekick of my dad, purposeful for capturing the changing lives of his three daughters. What stuck with me the most was the camera’s ability to capture change and stillness intertwined. The photos I took on those cameras, even at the age of 12, seamlessly told the story of the present as I aged. The photos were perfect, because they captured the essence of my spirit.
Today, I have the honor of retelling love in its most authentic form. From weddings where joy overflows and warmth becomes a state-of-being to engagements that celebrate a new season of being, stillness has been the everlasting gift in those photos albums. My hope is that everyone experiences photos that don’t need words to tell their story.
